General Election is Tuesday, November 5, 2024

Your superpower is your vote and your pen is mightier.

Use it on a ballot!

Use a black pen but please, please, please vote Blue (D) up and down the ballot.ย

The genuine threats promised by a 2nd Trump Administration are obscured by his circus acts. Trump “works” for a few hours on a McDonald’s fry line, Trump discusses the size of a deceased golfer’s genitalia, and Trump sings and dances to a disjointed mix-tape at rallies. But if you listen to the ringmaster’s rhetoric, he praises dictators because he aspires to be one.ย  He promises a “blood bath” if he is not elected. Undocumented immigrants will be a “bloody story.” The stage will be set for him, or God forbid, Vance — Project 2025 dancing in step with a complicit Supreme Court gives the office of the President immunity for crimes against “we the people.”

It was a flash in the MSM news cycle, but Trump has aย list of political enemies and if President, far-ranging immunity.ย

Reminder: The last time — and let’s make sure it was the last time — Trump left office, we were down 1,000,000 citizens due to the administration first gutting the CDC (2018) followed by mismanagement of the COVID pandemic. Imagine the dishevel if the number of people he plans to deport is 15-20X that number.

The do-nothing GOP comes at us as organized as Nazi’s behind their guy this time. Project 2025 is a big playbook.ย Rachel “The Doc” Bitecofer’s analysis of a Trump win is worth your time:

The stew we swim in for this General Election STILL includes COVID coming at us with new variants โ€” wear a mask, be kind, get vaccinated, and vote absentee if possible.

And the duplicitous stare decisis GOP has thrown womenโ€™s rights under the bus. I enjoyed the protection of Roe throughout my reproductive years. In my lifetime, I have only known what it is like to have agency over my own body. That this protection is gone leaves me stone cold. This is a war on women and our access to healthcare.

ActiVote, Plot Your Politics

Active Voter. Activated Voter. I tripped across this app on a recommendation from someone on a Facebook group. A feature and information-rich application that as Viva Doe Citizen allows me to see where I line up on issues with politicians that represent me or donโ€™t and Iโ€™m looking at Senator Ron Johnson. He sure doesnโ€™t represent me.

And ActiVote shows a range of legislative responses to current issues. For instance, here is the relatively benign โ€˜residential speed limitโ€™ question:

From ActiVote, the goals of the application/website are:

  • Make civics a habit
  • Help you get to the polls
  • Help you assess candidates for political office
  • Amplify your voice (polling)
  • Education resource for policy
  • Track elected officials and legislation

ActiVote does collect lots of data! Data they provide others is aggregated. You will not be personally identifiable. I had a back-and-forth on the data privacy of ActiVote on Facebook. The upshot: their Privacy Policy is easily accessible and readable in a way that Facebookโ€™s is not. I believe the founders have the best intentions in a way that Mark Zuckerberg does not or never will.

Also, Target has enough data on me and Mr. Viva that paper towels will be ready for pick-up tomorrow.
